To show my artwork in medical surroundings is a totally new experience. It has taken a lot of careful thinking – together with the medical staff, with the writer Gabrielle Alioth (who was the initiator of this adventure) as well as with my partner Ron Rubey. What pieces should be chosen? What would be appropriate to be shown in such a place? In such a setting, a new light is cast on each individual work. The exhibition at Dr. Martin Kaufmann's Gastro-Enge Clinic in Zurich (Switzerland) is up for two years.

Es ist eine vollkommen neue Erfahrung fuer mich, meine Arbeiten in medizinischer Umgebung zu zeigen. Es war viel sorgfaeltiges Ueberlegen notwendig – zusammen mit dem medizinischen Team, der Schriftstellerin Gabrielle Alioth (der Initiatorin dieses Abenteuers) und meinem Partner Ron Rubey: welche Werke ausgewaehlen? Was ist passend fuer einen solchen Ort? Jedes einzelne Werk erscheint ploetzlich in einem neuen Licht. Die Ausstellung in der Gastro-Enge Klinik von Dr. med. Martin Kaufmann in Zuerich dauert zwei Jahre.

"This street cafe is situated on the Innocents' Square, the meeting point of Paris for visitors of the McDonald's age. It could be just any cafe in Paris. How they all look alike! Again and again as I pass by this cafe, I think all I would have to do is simply sit down at one of the tiny tables, order a Kir and immediately, I would meet the most interesting people. I have never taken the kind of time necessary to do that, if it were at all possible to "take" time. And would anything else really have happened, other than me buying an overpriced beverage?"

"Am Square des Innocents, dem Treffpunkt der Parisbesucher im McDonald's-Alter, liegt dieses Strassencafe. Es koennte irgendein Cafe in Paris sein. Wie sie sich alle gleichen! Und immer wieder denke ich, dass ich mich einfach an eines der winzigen Tischchen zu setzen, einen Kir zu bestellen brauche und schon wuerden die interessantesten Begegnungen stattfinden. Ich habe mir diese Art von Zeit nie genommen, falls man sich Zeit ueberhaupt nehmen kann. Haette ausser dem Konsum eines ueberteuerten Getraenks wirklich je etwas stattgefunden?"

Andreas Jaeggi has been invited to be an Artist-in-Residence at the Museum of Natural History in Le Havre, France in order to execute a series of seventeen paintings and four drawings about the subject of pre-natal echographical represenations of the human being. These paintings in oil and acrylic on canvas and color pencil drawings on paper are part of Alain Germain's exhibition "Before Birth, 5000 Years of Images" at the Museum (Cedric Cremiere, director and Jean-Louis Fischer, curator).

Andreas Jaeggi ist vom Naturhistorischen Museum von Le Havre als Artist-in-Residence eingeladen worden, um vor Ort eine Serie von siebzehn Bildern und vier Zeichnungen zum Thema echographische Darstellung des menschlichen Wesens vor der Geburt zu malen und zu zeichnen. Die Kunstwerke sind von Dokumenten der dreidimensionalen Echographie von Dr. Jean-Marc Levaillant inspiriert, die in neuester Technologie von einem Echograph 3D Scanner von GE Healthcare ausgefuehrt worden sind. Dieses Geraet ist auch im Rahmen der Ausstellung in Funktion zu sehen.

The art work is inspired by documents produced by the latest technology of three dimensional pictorial renditions by Dr. Jean-Marc Levaillant, using the newest Echograph 3D scanner by GE Healthcare which is also being shown and demonstrated during this exhibition.

Die Bilder in Oel und Acryl auf Leinwand und Farbstiftzeichnungen sind Teil der Ausstellung von Alain Germain "Vor der Geburt, bildnerische Darstellungen aus 5000 Jahren" im Naturhistorischen Museum (Direktor Cedric Cremiere und Jean-Louis Fischer, Kurator) in Le Havre.

The presented objects include, among many others, an Ancient Egyptian mummified fetus in a painted sarcophagus as well as small life size wax models from the 19th century.
|
|
Die Praesentation umfasst unter anderem auch einen altaegptischen mummifizierten Foetus in einem bemalten Sarkophag und kleine lebensgrosse Wachsmodelle aus dem 19. Jahrhundert.
